Shielded pump data and performance analysis and selection point of view

Centrifugal pumps typically operate by connecting the pump impeller shaft to the motor shaft through a coupling, enabling both components to rotate together and perform the pumping work. Shielded pumps are also a type of centrifugal pump, but in this design, the impeller is integrated with the motor rotor. The rotor rotates along with the motor stator, all enclosed within a protective casing. A small annular gap of approximately 0.7mm exists between the stator and rotor. During operation, part of the pumped liquid circulates through this gap to cool the motor. As a result, shielded pumps feature a compact structure, reduced vibration and noise, high efficiency, low energy consumption, and no leakage. From a safety, hygiene, and energy-saving perspective, shielded pumps are an excellent choice for handling highly corrosive, flammable, explosive, or toxic liquids, delivering satisfactory performance. The LHP Vertical Shield Pump developed by Zhejiang Yongjia Blue Sea Pump Co., Ltd. is a specialized infusion machine designed for integration into various systems. It is widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical processing, metallurgy, research institutions, hospitals, schools, hotels, and offices, particularly in cold and hot water circulation systems, water supply systems, and other media with physical and chemical properties similar to water. Unlike conventional horizontal pumps, the LHP model features a shielding device in the motor, where the stator and rotor are equipped with a shielding sleeve. This sleeve, made from high-strength, corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic stainless steel, prevents the transported medium from eroding the motor components. The shielding sleeve is welded using special equipment and processes, and undergoes a helium leak test to ensure absolute leak-proof integrity. Inside the shielded motor, graphite sliding bearings treated with impregnated epoxy resin are used. These bearings offer excellent corrosion resistance, high wear resistance, and heat resistance, along with a low friction coefficient. Lubrication and cooling grooves are incorporated into the bearing bore and end, allowing the medium to lubricate and cool the bearing. The graphite bearing and bearing sleeve form a wear pair, with the bearing sleeve made of lcr18Ni9Ti stainless steel, coated with a nickel-based alloy for enhanced wear resistance. In the overall design of the motor and pump, the impeller and rotor run coaxially within the medium, eliminating the need for a shaft seal. This design removes the issues of wear and leakage associated with mechanical seals, resulting in no dynamic seal and completely solving the problem of water leakage. The shielded pump also includes a circulating cooling system with a filtration device, ensuring that the motor remains well-lubricated and effectively cooled, significantly extending its service life. In terms of hydraulic design, the impeller uses advanced modeling, precision casting, and rigorous dynamic balance testing, leading to high efficiency and stable operation. The LHP series offers a wide range of 67 varieties and 184 specifications, with flow rates ranging from 5.5 to 1200 m³/h, head from 5 to 125 meters, motor power from 0.55 to 160 kW, speeds of 1410–1430 r/min and 2900 r/min, and pipe diameters from 40 to 300 mm. The temperature range is -15°C to +95°C, with a hot water version up to 160°C. The maximum working pressure is 1.4 MPa. Applications include: 1. The standard LHP shielded pipeline pump is suitable for transporting water and similar liquids, with a maximum medium temperature of 80°C. It is commonly used in industrial and municipal water supply and drainage, high-rise building pressurization, irrigation, fire boosting, long-distance transmission, HVAC refrigeration cycles, and heating and cooling water circulation systems. It is especially ideal for environments where vibration and noise levels must be minimized, such as underground pumping stations and air conditioning systems. 2. The hot water version of the LHP shielded pipeline pump is designed for transporting soft water without solid particles, with a maximum temperature of 160°C. It is used in energy, metallurgy, chemical, paper, hotel, restaurant, bathroom, and boiler hot water cycle applications, as well as city heating systems. 3. The anti-corrosion LHP shielded pipeline pump is suitable for conveying viscous, corrosive, and particle-free liquids, making it ideal for use in petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, power, paper, food, pharmaceutical, and synthetic fiber industries. Working conditions require the medium to be soft, thin, non-condensable, non-flammable, and free of solid particles and fibers. The standard operating temperature is 80°C, while the hot water version can handle up to 160°C. Under normal conditions, the system pressure should not exceed 1.2 MPa, with an inlet pressure of at least 0.5 MPa. Special cases should be discussed with the company beforehand. The ambient temperature should not exceed 40°C, and relative humidity should remain below 95%.
