Working fire in Kenilworth, 1-12-20

<

I was driving by 80 Tudor Place in Kenilworth late on January 12, 2020, when I saw smoke billowing into the night sky. It was clear something serious was happening, so I pulled over to get some photos. The fire had a hold on the building, and the Glencoe Public Safety Department was there in full force. The first image I captured shows the intense glow of the flames against the dark backdrop. You can see the firefighters hard at work, their focus evident as they tried to contain the blaze. The heat was palpable even from where I stood, and the crackling of the fire echoed through the neighborhood. In another shot, you can see Engine 30 from the Glencoe Public Safety Department standing tall amidst the chaos. The way the light catches the red paint of the fire engine makes it stand out against the darkness, almost like a beacon of hope for those affected. There were multiple fire trucks and emergency personnel on site, each playing their part to bring the situation under control. One of the photos captures a tower ladder from E-ONE at work, reaching high into the sky to douse the flames above. The precision and teamwork involved were truly impressive to witness. As I took these pictures, I couldn’t help but think about how quickly a normal evening could turn into such an urgent situation. Max Weingardt, who happened to be nearby, was kind enough to share his images with me. His photos really capture the drama and intensity of the scene that night. Looking back on these moments, it’s a reminder of how important our local emergency services are. They handle situations like this with skill and dedication, often putting themselves in harm's way to protect others. If you're ever in the area, take a moment to appreciate the hardworking individuals who keep us safe.
