A tragic incident occurred today (December 18, 2021), as the Boone County Fire District 2 facility went up in flames. This is devastating news for the community and everyone involved with the fire district.

This morning, I received word that the main building of the Boone County Fire District 2 had caught fire. It’s shocking to see such a vital part of our local emergency services affected this way. From what I’ve heard, firefighters on the scene managed to contain the blaze, but unfortunately, significant damage has already been done.
I’ve attached some photos I took earlier today, showing the extent of the damage. You can see how much of the equipment appears to have been impacted. The tender trucks, quints, and even the brush truck—all critical tools for firefighting—were all caught in the chaos. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the fire, but the emotional toll on the firefighters and their families must be immense.
The community is rallying together to support those affected. Donations are being collected to help replace lost equipment and assist the fire district in getting back on its feet. If you’re able, consider reaching out to see how you can contribute or lend a hand.
