Before Engine 104’s station was closed, these were the last suppression companies that operated out of there 24/7. Michigan Avenue wasn’t a very busy street on weekends back then. After the station closed, Engine 104 was reassigned to Engine 1’s house, and Engine 4-2-4 was assigned to Engine 26’s location. It was truly a sad day for this old fire station, which had been a part of the city’s history for many years.
