A company named SprayDown recently announced that its newly developed split water spray system for truck fenders has successfully passed the initial testing under the EEC 91/226 directive. "We've achieved a moisture separation rate of 96%, which significantly exceeds the required 85% set by the VCA test," said Steve Nesbitt, the company's managing director. This breakthrough marks a major step forward in improving vehicle efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
In recent updates from the British Automobile Manufacturers Association (SMMT) CV Newsletter, Mr. Nesbitt shared more insights about the technology. He explained that this is their first air moisture separator device specifically designed for 'absorption type' car fenders. According to research conducted at the University of Strathclyde, the system could potentially save up to 2% in fuel consumption. That means customers could recoup the cost of the device within just a few months, making it a smart investment for fleet operators and commercial drivers alike.
SprayDown is now looking to expand the application of this technology to other vehicle types, aiming to bring more sustainable solutions to the automotive industry. With growing pressure on manufacturers to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy, innovations like this are becoming increasingly valuable. The company is confident that this new system will not only meet regulatory standards but also deliver real-world benefits for users.
