Capillary network heat exchanger for high efficiency

Dr. Xu Shaohong, from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Beijing Pulaifu Environmental Counting Co., Ltd., has successfully developed a PP-R capillary network heat exchanger. This groundbreaking innovation has broken a 20-year technological monopoly previously held by Germany, making China the second country in the world to produce this advanced product. Recently, the project was officially recognized and passed the assessment for scientific and technological achievements organized by the Ministry of Construction. The capillary network heat exchanger system is inspired by the human body's capillary system, enabling precise control of indoor temperature and environment under constant conditions. It efficiently utilizes low-grade renewable energy, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional heating and air-conditioning systems. The technology boasts features such as low water resistance, uniform flow distribution, a large heat dissipation surface area, high-temperature and pressure resistance, and strong corrosion resistance. As an efficient and durable heat exchanger, it has wide applications in construction, industrial heat exchange, energy collection and release, and environments with high humidity and temperature. Its service life can exceed 50 years, and with proper usage, maintenance and cleaning are minimized. Experts highlight that when combined with ground-source or air-source heat pumps, along with an optimized energy-saving control system, energy savings can reach up to 70%. Furthermore, integrating the system with solar energy and cold/heat storage technologies could lead to energy savings of around 90%, making it a promising solution for future green buildings and energy-efficient infrastructure.
