Chicago FD apparatus history

<

I just came across some amazing photos taken by Steve Redick showcasing the past glory of Chicago Fire Department (CFD) apparatus. These images really take me back to a time when firefighting vehicles had that classic charm. Take a look at this beauty, Chicago FD Engine 43. It's simply stunning! The design and details on these older engines are something you don't see much anymore. And here’s another one, the Ford C-Pierce fire engine. This combination of vintage automotive and firefighting technology is fascinating. There’s also an old Chicago firehouse picture featuring both a pumper and an ambulance. It gives such a nostalgic vibe, like stepping into a different era. You can almost hear the distant sirens and feel the excitement of those early days. Another standout is the E-ONE Hurricane fire engine. Its sleek lines and powerful presence make it a timeless classic. Then there's the vintage Seagrave ladder truck, which looks like it could still be on duty today if not for its age. The Hendrickson-E-ONE ladder truck is equally impressive with its robust build. One more Engine 43 makes an appearance, alongside another Hurricane model. These photos really highlight how far firefighting equipment has come while preserving the heritage of what made them great in the first place. Steve Redick did an incredible job capturing all these moments for us to enjoy.
