2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-30-19
It’s Eric Haak again, and I wanted to share some quick updates from the scene of a fire I came across today in Chicago. This incident happened at around 2:11 PM near the intersection of 25th and Sacramento Streets. When I arrived, firefighters were already aggressively tackling the blaze from inside the structure. However, as I was approaching, they had to switch to a more defensive strategy. The very first photo I took just moments after the crews evacuated the building showed how quickly conditions worsened.

The next set of photos captures the firefighters in action during the harsh winter weather. It was bitterly cold out there, but their determination was inspiring. You can see the firefighters working hard with both a snorkel truck and a tower ladder to control the situation.

And here’s another powerful image that really highlights the challenges these brave men and women face. This firefighter is completely encased in ice after hours of relentless firefighting efforts. Finally, this last shot gives us a broader view of the operation. It’s incredible to see how coordinated everyone is despite the chaos unfolding before them. These images serve as a testament to the dedication and skill of the Chicago Fire Department under difficult circumstances.
