Cicero Box Alarm 10-30-12
Approximately 24th and Cicero—there's an old railroad maintenance building, a former roundhouse. The aerial view was taken using the new Apple Maps app. When I arrived, there wasn't much left to see in terms of fire, but they had two elevated master streams ready, so I imagine it must have looked pretty intense at the start. From the radio chatter, I think they were dealing with an old railroad engine on fire. The Lyons squad was supplying a foam line into the structure, though I'm not sure if it was Class A or B foam. I really liked the shots of the hole cut through the fence to reach the hydrant—wondering how they knew it was there. The Berwyn engine was running a long relay with a large-diameter hose (LDH) from across Cicero Avenue. If anyone has more details, feel free to share.
