Autodesk University 2017 Celebrates the Future of Making Things

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — At its 25th annual Autodesk University (AU) event, Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) welcomed thousands of architects, designers, engineers, and digital artists from around the globe to explore the future of design and construction. This year marks the third consecutive carbon-neutral event, with nearly 10,000 attendees gathering to learn, connect, and discover new ways to shape the world through technology. In his first keynote as CEO, Andrew Anagnost emphasized the transformative power of automation, AI, and robotics in driving economic growth and job creation. “While change can be disruptive, these technologies will open up more opportunities than many expect,” he said. The company also announced several initiatives aimed at equipping people with the skills needed for tomorrow’s evolving industries. Wednesday’s keynote featured Amy Bunszel, Senior Vice President, who highlighted how current Autodesk tools are helping users take practical steps toward the future of making things. Thursday’s session provided a glimpse into the future of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC), as well as Manufacturing, with special guest appearances from companies like Kalitta Motorsports, Skanska, and Van Wijnen. New features in Fusion 360 and BIM 360 were showcased, along with partnerships such as one with Dropbox using the Forge platform. Attendees also experienced cutting-edge innovations like generative design, augmented and virtual reality, and additive manufacturing. A new AU Theater featured TED-style talks on topics ranging from machine intelligence to climate solutions. The exhibit hall was designed using Autodesk’s Project Discover, optimizing the attendee experience. Interactive exhibits included additively manufactured maritime parts, construction drones, generatively designed airports, and a functioning Hyperloop pod.
