This report comes from Dennis McGuire, Jr.

This afternoon, Engine Co. 62 responded to a one-story auto repair shop on fire with flames visible through the roof. Upon entering the structure, the 22nd Battalion requested a Still and Box alarm. The fire was eventually knocked down, but there was significant overhaul and salvage work needed afterward.

More from Dan McInerney:

Here are some pictures from the still and box at 12300 S. Michigan on Thursday afternoon. They had a fire in a one-story vacant autobody shop. It looks like it may have started in the garage and then spread into the cockloft and through the roof. Squad 5 was on a still in the high rise on 41st St., and the 22nd wanted an elevated stream, which he didn’t have on the still, so he boxed it to get a tower ladder. E115 and E75 each had a 2.5-inch line and made quick work of the fire. Neither TL34 nor Squad 5 (who eventually arrived from 41st St.) used their platforms. There was a lot of overhaul afterward, and the 22nd Battalion asked for EFAO to notify the Building Department that this was a vacant and open building.
