Advanced Analogic (AnalogicTech) has launched the AAT2820, a three-output charge pump regulator designed for battery-powered portable devices. This power management solution is tailored to meet the growing demand for TFT LCD and CCD image sensor applications, offering three adjustable output voltages: Vpos for open gate drive bias, Vneg for turn-off gate voltage bias, and a logic voltage supply.
The AAT2820 utilizes external diodes and capacitor multipliers to regulate both the Von and Voff outputs, ensuring stable and precise voltage levels. Unlike traditional solutions that rely on inductors, this device eliminates the need for high inductance components, enabling ultra-thin designs with a height of just 0.8mm. This makes it ideal for space-constrained applications such as smartphones, tablets, and wearable electronics.
With a switching frequency of 1MHz, the AAT2820 allows the use of ultra-small external capacitors, further reducing the overall footprint. It also features a built-in soft-start circuit that minimizes inrush current during startup, protecting the device and extending its lifespan. In shutdown mode, the low-power feature disconnects the load from the input voltage, reducing quiescent current to less than 0.1μA—ideal for energy-efficient systems. Additionally, the thermal protection circuit automatically shuts down all charge pumps when the die temperature exceeds a safe threshold, preventing damage from overheating.
Whether you're designing next-generation portable devices or optimizing power efficiency in imaging systems, the AAT2820 offers a reliable, compact, and high-performance power solution.
