3. The practical remote fault detection (Front Fault Detect) optical fiber transceiver, abbreviated as RFD function, is also called LnkLos function, that is, link error transfer function. When a fiber transceiver is connected to a router, if one of the links (two quintets or two fibers from the central office router to the customer end switch) is faulty (such as broken), if the RFD function is not supported, the link error does not occur. It will be passed to the router to which the transceiver is connected. The Link light is still normal and the router will not update the routing table. Therefore, the data packet will continue to forward data along the line that has already failed, resulting in a lot of packet loss. The RFD function solves this problem for the network. After the fiber transceivers start the RFD function, any link that is faulty will be alarmed on the Link lights on both sides of the switch. The Link light of the router will go out and the router will reroute.

4.
