1. What is the application range and characteristics of the flotation column?

The flotation column is also called the column flotation machine. It is a deep trough type inflatable flotation machine and is one of the new flotation equipments in China. Many beneficiation plant studies by the test has been used in a variety of flotation, and obtained good results in some flotation process can substantially replace the mechanical flotation machine, or some other type of flotation machine used in combination . At present, most of the flotation columns are used for rough selection, but not suitable for selected operations. Mainly the flotation concentrate quality and recovery rate are not as good as flotation machines, especially concentrate quality.

The technical specifications of the flotation column are often expressed by the diameter D and height H of the flotation column. There are currently two types of garden type and upper and lower garden.

The characteristics of the flotation column are: simple structure, convenient manufacturing and installation, easy production and maintenance, power saving, small floor space, low capital cost and fast launch.

However, the flotation column also has its shortcomings: mainly the inflator is easy to form calcium and blockage, and the work is unstable. This is the main problem worth studying and improving.

2. What is the working principle of the flotation column?

When the flotation column is in operation, the slurry is added to the flotation reagent for vigorous agitation, and is fed into the column by the center feeding device. Due to the gravity of the slurry, it slowly descends from the column. The compressed air is dispersed into a large number of tiny bubbles through the inflator, evenly distributed over the entire section of the column and rises slowly. The slurry forms a convective motion with the bubbles. In this case, a part of the floatable mineral adheres to the bubble and floats up to the slurry to form a mineralized bubble, which overflows from the foam flow cell or scrapes the foam with a scraper, which is a concentrate. Another part of the non-floating gangue cannot adhere to the bubble, and is discharged from the tailings lifting device or into the next operation, which is the tailings.

3. What are the precautions when the flotation column is parked?

When the flotation column is driving, first supply air to the inflation tube. After checking the problem, add water to the column. After the water covers the inflation tube, open the gate of the tailings connection tube, and see that the clear water can flow out. Mine, while stopping the water supply, forming a tailings stream for the tailings gate. As the slurry level rises, the tailings gate also gradually opens. When the overflow tank finds the concentrate foam output, this is Carefully adjust the tailings gate so that the tailings discharge and the amount of ore are balanced to maintain a constant liquid level.

When the flotation column is parked, the mine should be stopped first, and the tailings gate should be properly closed and injected into clean water. After the mineralized foam is removed by supplemental water, the administration and water injection are stopped, and the tailings gate is completely opened and discharged. The pulp is rinsed with clean water (mainly to avoid blockage of the air tube pores) and then stop the wind. In case of accidental parking (including sudden power outage), the operator should immediately open the tailings gate and close the feeding pipe, so that the slurry in the column is quickly discharged, and then flush the air pipe with clean water.

4. What should be controlled when the flotation column is in operation? And pay attention to what is the situation?

In order to ensure the normal operation of the flotation column and obtain satisfactory indicators, it is required to strictly control the amount of ore, air volume, and wind pressure during operation, and timely observe whether the following conditions occur:

1) Flip flower phenomenon. The main reason for the tumbling is that the air tube is broken and the air pressure is too high. The method of elimination is to adjust the wind pressure. If there is still a tumbling after adjusting the wind pressure, stop it and check if the inflation tube is broken or there is a compression phenomenon, and then drive the vehicle after troubleshooting;

2) The tailings pipe is clogged. This is the most common accident in operation. The phenomenon of blockage is mostly due to the large size of the ore in the slurry, or the sudden increase of the ore supply and the opening of the tailings gate and the inclusion of other debris in the column. Remedy: High-pressure water pipes or high-pressure air pipes should be installed at the lowest position of the lowermost end of the discharge pipe. Once the blockage occurs, high-pressure water or high-pressure air can be used to dredge, and the ore supply and ore size should be adjusted.

3) Less foam. Mainly due to too little air or problems with the pharmaceutical system. The elimination method is to increase the air volume and adjust the dosage and control the stirring time.
