Buffalo Grove FD news
I just got this update from Larry Shapiro about an incident involving the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. They were called out early this morning (June 3, 2016) to a residence on 6 Villa Verde Drive regarding an elderly person who had suffered a hip injury. The individual was located on the top floor of a three-story apartment building where the elevator wasn’t working. Since using a stair stretcher wasn't feasible, they decided to use the tower ladder to safely lower the patient to the ground using a Stokes basket.
It was quite a scene! I managed to get some pictures that really capture the operation. The firefighters did an amazing job ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient throughout the process. You can see how they carefully maneuvered the tower ladder while maintaining control over the entire situation. It’s not every day you get to witness such precise teamwork in action.
For those interested, there are more photos available on Larry Shapiro's website at shapirophotography.net. If you're looking for a closer look at what went down, I highly recommend checking them out. They really tell the story of how these brave firefighters handled the situation with both skill and compassion.
