The Berwyn Fire Department responded to a fire in an alley on the 7000 block of 34th Street this evening. The incident, which occurred around dusk, quickly drew attention from nearby residents and local media.
Josh Boyajian, a resident of Berwyn, shared his firsthand account along with several photos of the scene:
"When I stepped outside, I saw a massive fire visible from my home. Berwyn fire companies arrived to find a boat fully engulfed in flames. It was under construction at the time, and the fire had already spread significantly. They deployed two lines to tackle the blaze. North Riverside Fire Department provided auto-aid support."
The photos captured various stages of the fire and the firefighters' efforts. One image shows a large header (a term used to describe a wall of flame) visible from the street, indicating how intense the fire had become. Another photo reveals the boat on a mobile trailer in the backyard of a home, already fully involved before firefighters could reach it.
