This time, they were asked to assist in Libertyville with locating a firearm that had been thrown into the Des Plaines River near Route 176. Swift water divers were sent into the river but couldn’t find the weapon. They plan to continue their search today. The Sonar Team has been actively involved in multiple searches across Buffalo Grove, Johnsburg, and Libertyville in the last three weeks. Photo by Tim Olk The TribLocal reported that: Libertyville firefighters were helping in a North Chicago police investigation on Wednesday afternoon, searching for a gun in the Des Plaines River, according to officials. Photo by Tim Olk The Daily Herald reported that: North Chicago police asked for help from the Libertyville fire department’s dive team to locate the weapon, which was allegedly used in a nonfatal shooting last week. Fire department officials said the suspect is in custody, but police want to examine the gun to see if it was involved in other incidents.
