This time, they were sent to Libertyville to help locate a firearm that had been tossed into the Des Plaines River near Route 176. Swift water divers entered the river but couldn’t find the weapon. They plan to continue their search today (Thursday), hoping to uncover the missing item. The Sonar Team has been active in recent weeks, responding to searches in Buffalo Grove, Johnsburg, and Libertyville. Tim Olk photo The Daily Herald published an article that stated: North Chicago police asked for assistance from the Libertyville fire department’s dive team to locate the weapon, which was allegedly used in a nonfatal shooting last week. Fire department officials confirmed the suspect is in custody, but police want to examine the gun to see if it was involved in other incidents.
