Earlier this month, Nationwide Boiler Inc. opened its doors at the Nationwide Control Solutions facility in Washougal, Washington, to welcome three groups of high school students for an exclusive tour of their panel fabrication site. This visit was part of the annual Pathway Conference organized by Washougal High School, a career-focused event designed to expose students to real-world opportunities in the trades.
The Pathway Conference functions like a mini career fair, offering Career & Technical Education (CTE) students a chance to explore potential careers in local industries. The goal of the CTE program is to boost graduation rates and better prepare students for the workforce by connecting classroom learning with practical skills and job readiness.
“We were thrilled to participate in this event,†said Jack Valentine, General Manager at Nationwide Boiler. “It’s important to show young people that there are exciting, well-paying careers in the trades—especially within the boiler industry. Many of these opportunities aren’t widely known, so we’re committed to helping spread the word.â€
During the tour, students learned about the company’s wide range of products, including temporary rental boilers, used and new boilers, emissions control systems, and combustion control systems. They also had the chance to see firsthand how control panels are built, tested, and installed.
As they walked through the panel shop, students observed electrical wiring, factory acceptance testing, and the fabrication of new equipment. Highlights included a newly constructed motor control center (MCC) panel for a rental boiler, a urea supply skid for a CataStakâ„¢ SCR system, several Eagle combustion control panels, and various fuel supply skids.
At the end of the tour, students left with a better understanding of control systems and the boiler industry, along with some promotional items to take home.
