Caterpillar Showcases Cat C7.1 High Performance Propulsion Engine
Caterpillar Marine exhibited the Cat C7.1 high-performance propulsion engine (purchased from the product library) at the 2017 Miami Beach Yacht (Ship Shipyard) sale.
     The Cat C7.1 high-performance propulsion engine has three power stages: 507 mhp (373 bkW), 456 mhp (336 bkW) and 406 mhp (298 bkW) at 2900 rpm. All power levels of the C7.1 engine meet the requirements of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) II, the EU Recreational Yachts Directive, and the European Union Class IIIA regulations. The C7.1 engine is ideal for recreational yacht applications, especially for smaller yachts and motor yachts that are 25-60 feet in length. The engine features a common rail fuel system that optimizes combustion and reduces emissions. The operation of the engine is very quiet due to reduced combustion noise through advanced electronic controls. In addition, no smoke emissions are visible during operation.
