Eaton's newest transmission will be fitted with Paccar and Volvo North American trucks

Recently, in Louisville, Kentucky, Eaton Corporation has expanded the Fuller Advantage series of automatic transmissions . The gearbox can now be paired with Paccar's engine and Volvo Trucks with the Cummins Smart Advantage Powertrain Package.

The news was announced by Eaton on trucks in Central North America. Paccar's customers can order the FullerAdvantage series of 10-speed gearboxes for use with the MX-13 engine. Tim Sinden, Eaton’s North American truck business president, said customers can see up to 5% improvement in fuel economy using this gearbox. Eaton’s oil cooler was eliminated due to the sophisticated lubrication system, reducing the weight of the transmission by 82 pounds. .

Eaton said that in addition to Paccar's engine, Volvo North America's trucks use the Cummins SmartAdvantage powertrain package can also use this automatic transmission. This power pack is selected by Cummins ISX12 or ISX15.

Eaton saw a shift in automatic transmissions throughout the North American truck industry. In 2013, 20% of North American Class 8 heavy-duty trucks were equipped with automatic transmissions, and Eaton staff stated that this level will increase to 30% in three to five years.
