Dive Box in Blue Island, 6-18-17

This message is from Eric Haak. He shared some photos he took on Sunday morning (June 18) at Blue Island’s Dive Box located on Ashland Avenue, right above the Calumet River. It seems there was an incident involving someone potentially falling into the river, though it's unclear whether they jumped off the bridge or simply ended up in the water by accident. Emergency crews worked extensively in the area throughout the morning, but unfortunately, they didn't find anything when Eric wrote this. He thought it might be interesting to share these images of the equipment and rigs that were present on the scene.
Attached are some photos showcasing various fire departments’ water rescue units. You can see the FD divers searching the water for any signs of the missing person. The dedication and preparation of these teams are evident in their gear and readiness. There’s also a shot of the Blue Island FD boat with a diver ready to assist. Another image highlights the Palos FPD boat and diver rescue efforts. Lemont FPD’s Water Rescue Unit is also featured, showing their specialized equipment. Frankfort FPD’s dive team is visible in another photo, emphasizing their commitment to safety on the water. Mokena FPD Squad 91 makes an appearance as well, along with a Crestwood FD Ambulance 2312. I hope everything turned out okay in the end, but regardless, it’s great to have documentation of the hard work these first responders put in.
