Habitat for Humanity Partners With Rümi
Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta is excited to announce a new partnership with Rümi and its sister brands, ATCOenergy and Blue Flame Kitchen. This collaboration will support the organization’s Affordable Home Refurbishment Program, helping ensure that homes sold back to Habitat are upgraded to high standards of quality and energy efficiency before being offered to new homeowners.
Refurbishing homes is a key part of Habitat’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing. With this new partnership, Rümi and its partners will contribute both financial support and in-kind services, such as locksmith assistance, carpet cleaning, duct cleaning, and window cleaning. ATCOenergy will also provide free energy for six months to up to 10 homeowners who purchase refurbished homes each year. Additionally, Blue Flame Kitchen will offer welcome meals to these families, while Rümi’s team will participate in a Build Day to help construct new affordable homes in Calgary.
Marshall Wilmot, President of Rümi, said, “At Rümi, our goal is to make it easier for people to love where they live. Supporting affordable housing is essential to building stronger communities. From heating your home in the winter to providing nutritious meals, we’re proud to help Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta bring families into their new homes.â€
With 11% of Albertans facing core housing needs—spending over 30% of their income on inadequate or unaffordable housing—Habitat’s work is more important than ever. Every home built or renovated by Habitat helps families achieve long-term stability and independence.
Gerrad Oishi, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, added, “We’re grateful for Rümi’s generous contributions and the value they bring to our program. Their support makes a real difference in the lives of families across southern Alberta.â€
In the past year, eight families purchased refurbished homes, and 10 more are expected this year. These homes not only reduce housing stress but also improve children’s school performance and foster stronger community connections.
Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta has been serving families since 1990, partnering with over 300 families and impacting more than 1,000 children. Through no-down-payment mortgages and affordable payments, Habitat provides a solid foundation for better futures.
